Jaeger-LeCoultre continues its partnership with Casa Fagliano, the celebrated Argentinian bootmakers and unveils a Reverso Tribute Duoface Limited Edition of 100 pieces on a two-tone cordovan leather strap.

The Reverso Tribute Duoface watch comes in an elegant and timeless pink gold case. Driven by the Duoface concept, it offers two contrasting dials – both equally refined and each displaying a different time zone.

The slate grey sunray dial on the front features gold hand-applied hour markers that echo its Dauphine hands. A small seconds in a round minute track brings a softening note to the pure geometrical linearity of this watch, whose Art Deco design reflects its 1931 inspiration.

On the other side of the watch, the local time is displayed on a silvered dial that creates an elegant play of light through the juxtaposition of two finishes – a Clous de Paris guilloché on the background, and an opaline finish in the centre. The day/night indicator brings out the rounded curves and gives added character to the watch.

The watch is powered by the manually wound mechanical movement, Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 854/2, beating at 21,600 vph and offering a 42-hour power reserve.

The warm-toned pink gold case makes a beautiful match for the Casa Fagliano Edition two-tone cordovan leather strap, specially designed and hand-crafted for each piece. The strap allies a light brown with a darker brown shade on the turned-over flap, and features a tone-on-tone overstitching on both sides of the dial’s gadroons. It is scured by a 18-carat pink gold folding clasp. A family business running since 1892, Casa Fagliano works a soft and supple leather known for its great strength, following techniques handed down by long tradition. Each strap is hand-crafted, with its own unique patina and finishes making it a one-off.

The dial side has lots of other treats for the onlooker, particularly people connected into the perpetual calendar and the rattrapante chronograph. The former is composed of 206 parts, nearly a third of their 684 total component count of this L133.1 standard. Lange’s moon stage is “true to 122.6 decades” — mind you, that “accuracy” means that it requires that much time for the moon phase display to be off with a comprehensive day. This form of arbitrary way is the way the accuracy of moon phase displays in watches is usually determined, not that anyone really cares about real usefulness beyond its own aesthetic and technology element. The rattrapante chronograph on the other hand is one of the most technically impressive and hard complications out there. A few watchmakers I asked told me they find it even more challenging to do than a sonnerie or moment repeater, and definitely a much bigger pain in the throat compared to a perpetual calendar (unless it is instantaneous and/or further complicated). The two laser sharp chronograph seconds hands rest a hair’s width over one another in their own reset position, with the blue being the rattrapante hand, operated by the pusher in the 10 o’clock position of the case.

The words “Limited Edition – One of 100” are engraved on the back of this exclusive watch, which will be available only in Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutiques.
